The $8 Million Party Pad With the $32 Million Renovation

Engineering exec Bill Dean pulls out all the stops for his guests.

Bill Dean's parties are famous for their bizarre and unrestrained nature. Most of them include cadres of scantily clad women, so maybe it shouldn't come as any surprise that Bill Dean hurls money into his real estate endeavors just as vehemently as he does his party ones.

Take, for example, his renovation plans for his Miami Beach, Florida estate.

The engineering executive has a lot to work with: the home sits on a 2.35-acre compound and has a rooftop bar above the main house, four outdoor hot tubs, and a spacious pool house that can be used as a nightclub. Sounds extravagant--but hey, this is Miami.

And though Dean is chief executive of M.C. Dean Inc., a Dulles, Virginia-based engineering-services company, the party house of Dean's dreams begs the party atmosphere of hot and spicy Miami Beach.

So, he found and bought a 1937 Mediterranean Revival, six-bedroom home, the home of Sebastian Spering Kresge (founder of the company that later became Kmart) for $8 million dollars. He then sunk $32 million into a renovation project that includes adding several more buildings, a spa, four guest suites, and a pool house, reports the Wall Street Journal. Friday, Dean hosted a lavish black-tie birthday party to debut the "new" home.

Everything Dean planned for the home had party-goers in mind. The pool is shallow so people can lie down and soak in the sun (you can't converse when you're swimming in deep water).

The pool house, with sound-absorbing plaster walls, has a long onyx-and-granite bar, a state-of-the-art sound system, and plenty of beds and banquettes for lounging. There's a gym and spa with hydrotherapy tubs, steam room, and Turkish bath, all creating what Dean calls a "Zen-like environment." The lawn is made of a special zoysia grass, which is perfect for yoga, and hosts a hot tub and icy plunge pool.

And when Dean's had enough (he is human, after all), he'll retreat to the opposite side of the property, where he's built a a wing just for his own private space that includes a master bedroom, sitting room, and bathroom.

If Dean is looking for yet another spectacular party pad, we have a suggestion! Take a tour of an equally lavish Miami home above.
