Designer Living: Jamie Drake

Jamie Drake, who counts Mayor Bloomberg among his high-profile clients, offers a tour of a Bellport home he designed. The interior designer, known for incorporating trademark pops of color, faced the challenge of balancing the home's traditional, often formal layout with the homeowners' eclectic contemporary art collection.

Nature Meets Luxury at Serra Barn

Near the Serra foothills, the Serra Barn merges rustic beauty with a minimalist aesthetic. Located on two-and-a-half acres of land in the Malibu foothills, the residence was created by architect Michael Kovac and interior designer Vanessa Alexander, and was inspired by a classic Hamptons barn. Reclaimed wood and stone warm up the clean-lined home, which includes six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a poolside cabana and outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven.

Forget that suite at the W or the Ritz-Carlton: Architecture and design junkies can now stay at stunning vacation rentals by master builders such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier. Boutique Homes specializes in jaw-droppingly modern residences around the globe, where you can book a room in the patinated steel boxes of architect Rick Joy’s Desert Nomad House (shown above) at the foot of the Tucson Mountains for $2,500 per week. Or what about FLW’s cantilevered Palmer House (see second image) in Ann Arbor, MI, starting at $300 a night? For urbanites, you can hang your hat at Le Corbusier's minimalist masterpiece (see final image), a flat in Marseille's famed Cite Radiant (from 630 euros per week).
