Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware was named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week for week three, it was announced Tuesday.
Ware tied his career-high with three sacks in the Cowboys’ 27-13 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday, adding three quarterback pressures, three stuffs and eight tackles. All three of his sacks came on third down, with one knocking Houston out of field goal range.
Sunday marked the sixth three-sack performance of Ware’s career and the 14th multi-sack performance, which ties him with Randy White for third in franchise history in this regard. Only Greg Ellis and Jim Jeffcoat have more multi-sack games, with 19 each.
According to the team, Ware now has 68.5 sacks for his career.
This is the fourth time Ware has taken home Defensive Player of the Week honors.
