Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett is apologizing for nude pictures of himself that have been posted online.
In a statement released Monday by the team, Bennett says the pictures were taken four years ago and were recently posted online without his knowledge or consent.
Bennett, who didn't say who took or posted the pictures, says he understands "they are totally inappropriate" and regrets "the embarrassment that it has caused the organization."
Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple says the matter has been discussed with Bennett and will be addressed "further on an internal basis."

Just ask Martellus Bennett. The Dallas Cowboys' tight end was already having a pretty bad week, missing the opening of training camp with an ankle injury, when reports surfaced that will likely leave him feeling a little, er, exposed. Bennett is the subject of some tawdry and very naked photos, which made their way onto the worldwide web this week--the result, according to the Huffington Post, of love gone awry.
Per the report, Bennett cheated on a former girlfriend (the woman scorned), which led to her leaking the naughty cell phone photos (the hell-fury) of Bennett onto the Internet. The pictures, which are censored but are probably still not safe for work, first surfaced on the website Media Takeout--here, I'd describe them to the reader, but I just plain can't bring myself to have a glance, objective as it may be. My obligation to research goes only so far.
At any rate, Bennett joins the ranks of the Tampa Bay Rays' Evan Longoria, the Washington Redskins' Chris Cooley and the Portland Trailblazers Greg Oden as athletes who have had their naughty bits exposed to the curious masses. This certainly won't help the 24-year-old's reputation with fans who see him as more of a sideshow than a football player. On the other hand, this is the sort of thing for which VH1 dating shows are usually awarded.
