Things didn't get any better for the Birds in the second half. Felix Jones rattled off 73-yard TD run through the porous Birds' D to put the Boys up 34-7.
A great deal of fans have become somewhat enthralled with who will be named as the Dallas Cowboys starting running back in 2010, a sort of carry-over argument from last season, when, toward the end, Marion Barber slowed, as “back-up” Felix Jones shined.
Barber’s workload shrank while Jones’s grew, and by the time the final whistle blew on that oh-so-forgettable second round loss in Minny, the majority seemed in favor of stripping the Barbarian of the starting job (and in some cases, his roster spot).
As Dallas prepares for the 2010 season, all signs point to the former Razorback winning the job over Barber and, third option, Tashard Choice; but according to Jones, the argument is for naught until the season commences in earnest--a fair point considering that, regardless of who is the named starter, the Cowboys’ will continue platooning the three.
"We'll see,'' Jones told the Dallas Morning News, when asked who will start. "We'll figure that all out. Right now, my job is to get better and make my team better, prepare myself for this upcoming season.''
If Jones doesn’t start, he’ll win the honor of a somewhat ambiguous role somewhere among the undoubtedly talented backfield. That’s an option, obviously, that Jones would like to avoid. But as long as he’s getting carries, Jones says, he’ll be content to use them to the best of his (seemingly limitless) ability.
"I'm going to take that,” Jones said, “and make the best of what I get.”
