Jerry: “Very Possible” the Cowboys Trade Down from 27

Jerry Jones may be looking to trade out of the 27th overall pick on Thursday

Set to pick late in the first round on Thursday night, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said this week that their draft position, 27th overall, makes it more likely that they’ll trade out of the pick.

“The fact that we are at 27 increases the chance we may be moving around a little bit,” Jones said, per the team’s official website.

It is widely believed that there might not be much difference in this year’s draft in the value of picks from about the middle of the first round to about the middle to late second. With a trade, the Cowboys could move up to get into that premium pick territory or, confident in the depth of this draft, move down while collecting an extra pick or two.

“There is certainly a possibility we could trade up,” Jones said. “It is very possible for us to trade down and get a shot at a higher level of pick with a second-round pick that you don’t have or do something with our second or third. So you guys know how it works.”
