Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones thinks it’d be nice if he could load his team with super-talented players who were also men of sterling character. But this is the real world and, in the real world, that whole package is hard to come by.

Jones said all this in reference to the Greg Hardy signing this week and admitted what everyone already knew, that the Cowboys didn’t sign Hardy because he was “the right kind of guy” necessarily, but because they needed a pass rusher.

“I recognize all of those statements that, if you want to look at it that way, could be conflicting,” Jones said. “There’s no question that Jason (Garrett) wants a team that is made up of the finest character players and the finest talent that you can have. The real world is that you don’t get all that.

“One of the things that we need to do at all times is be looking toward becoming a better football team. That’s all of our jobs.”
