Eagles Sign Former Cowboys' Punter Mat McBriar

McBriar made two Pro Bowls in eight seasons with Dallas

Longtime Dallas Cowboys’ punter Mat McBriar is now a Philadelphia Eagle.

The Eagles announced that they had signed McBriar, a two-time Pro Bowler with Dallas, to a two-year deal and released Chas Henry--who had beaten McBriar out for the job in training camp with Philly--on Tuesday.

Last season saw McBriar struggle with a case of drop foot, which was later attributed to nerve issue around his left knee. McBriar played through the injury for the most part, but was placed on injured reserve just before the team’s 2011 finale against the New York Giants. He was replaced by Chris Jones, who remains the Cowboys’ punter.

Per ProFootballTalk.com, Henry had averaged 38 yards a punt and pinned the opposing team within their own 20-yard line twice in 2012.

The Cowboys will see their old punter for the first time in Eagles green on November 11, when the team’s meet in Philly for a Week 11 showdown.
