Doug Free Fined $7,500 For Clipping

Free was not flagged on the play in the victory over Tampa Bay

For the fifth time this season, on Wednesday, a Dallas Cowboy received a fine from league offices.

The offending party in this case was Doug Free, who was docked $7,500 for clipping in the victory over Tampa Bay last Saturday. Free was not flagged on the play, and had not been fined this season before Wednesday.

Prior to Free, fullback Shaun Chapas was the last Cowboy to be fined--he received a $20,000 fine for a blindside hit on the Cardinals’ Reggie Walker on a punt return on December 4. The incident came in Chapas’ first game as a member of the active roster.

Cornerback Frank Walker got a $7,500 fine for a hit on the Dolphins’ Anthony Fasano in the Thanksgiving Day game. DeMarcus Ware was docked $15,000 for a hit on Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick the week before that, and in week two, Kevin Ogletree got $7,500 for a facemasking penalty.
