A MEL BROOKS MUSICAL…IT’S ALIVE: Comic genius Mel Brooks brought the hilarity (and a few musical numbers) of the 1974 “Young Frankenstein” movie to the Broadway stage in 2007. Now, it’s alive and traveling the nation in the Lexus Broadway Series tour. Tonight, the green monster and his maker bring Transylvania Heights to Dallas as they visit the Winspear Opera House for opening night of “Young Frankenstein.” Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 to $150. The musical runs through Jan. 23.
FIRST TUESDAY: It’s Touchdown Tuesday at the Dallas Museum of Art and the first Tuesday of the New Year. Inspired by the “Big New Field” exhibition, this first Tuesday guides guests through a day of Super Bowl themed learning. The artistic afternoon begins at 11 a.m. – you can drop in and design your own Super Bowl ring at the Art Studio, hear stories by Ann Marie Newman in the C3 Theater at 11:30 a.m. and take a tour of the “Big New Field” exhibit at 12:15 p.m., finally ending the afternoon with a bit of “String Variety” puppet theater in Center Space at 1:30 p.m. Click here for a complete list of events.
A KNIGHT IN CAMELOT: Tonight, chivalry and honor play out on the stage of the Artisan Center Theater in Hurst. The legendary tale of King Arthur and his Camelot come to life through music, romance and victorious battle. The riveting musical directed by Dennis Carnright begins at 7:30 p.m. and runs through Jan. 29. Tickets are $12 during the week and $16 on weekends.
