An Evening with Bill Cosby

Comedian's family-friendly humor finds fans in Frisco

Bill Cosby took the stage wearing those rubber medical shoes, a black pair of warm up pants and an orange long sleeved t-shirt that read "Hello Friend" -- the name of the foundation he used to have in honor of his murdered son Ennis.

"Hello Friend" was how Ennis greeted people.

It was the perfect tone for "An Evening with Bill Cosby" at Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco.  He took the stage at 8:10, and for almost two hours non-stop, it was as if an old friend had come to visit and the two of you just laughed and laughed.

The jokes started at the beginning in the book of Genesis and the creation of Adam and Eve.   Cosby pointed out she was first called "woman," only he pronounced it "whoa, man" since it was Adam's first look at a female's naked body.  That brought laughs and the pump fist into the air.  The bigger laughs came when Cosby pointed out God described Eve as a helpmate to Adam, not his boss.

From the first couple, Cosby weaved in observations of his own marriage - 44 years now - parenthood and now life with grandchildren.

At times in the show, he got down on the floor to illustrate a point.  That was something to see.  A 71-year-old super star, rollin' on the stage floor to get a laugh.  He delivered, and so did the crowd --  Cosby's new Frisco fans let him know he is indeed a welcomed friend.
