There is no question the Texas Rangers need to add some outfield depth. They needed that before recent news that Josh Hamilton would start the season on the disabled list, and now, they really need it.

A couple of targets the Rangers had been tied to by numerous reports went off the market on Friday, as Shane Victorino signed a minor-league deal with the Cubs and Will Venable, who spent a couple of months with the Rangers last year, mostly as a late-game defensive replacement, signed a similar deal with the Indians.

Victorino, you could take or leave, but you have to think the Rangers had some pretty serious interest in bringing back Venable, who did a fine job in his limited capacity a year ago. So as we sit now, the Rangers are looking at a left-field situation that consists of Justin Ruggiano and Ryan Rua, who are both right-handed, or top prospect Nomar Mazara, who the Rangers won't want to bring into the fold this early.
