Stephen McGee Headed To Houston

McGee was drafted by the Cowboys in the fourth round back in 2009

After three seasons of holding a clipboard on the Dallas Cowboys’ sideline and one season out of football altogether, Texas A&M product Stephen McGee is back in the NFL and headed to Houston.

Per Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News, McGee was one of eight players signed to a reserve/future contract this week by the Texans, the team announced Thursday afternoon.

McGee appeared in just three regular season games after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft, and went 46 of 82 passing for 420 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He was released by the team back in September and not replaced, as the team opted to move forward with only two quarterbacks--Tony Romo and Kyle Orton.

In his time with Dallas, McGee showed occasional flashes of the quarterback Dallas hoped he could be back in April of 2009, but he was unable to translate his smarts and considerable physical tools into consistent success on the field and never got any higher than No. 3 on the depth chart.
