Staubach: Romo “Can Do It”

Roger Staubach is the latest former Cowboys' quarterback to offer support for Tony Romo

Last week, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Danny White came out in resounding support of current Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. White essentially said that if everyone on the Cowboys played their positions as well as Romo plays quarterback, the team would be perennial Super Bowl contenders.

This week, Roger Staubach joined White in the “Former Cowboys QBs In Support of Romo” camp, though with slightly less dramatic language than White used. At an event honoring the 1971 team that won Super Bowl VI on Monday, Staubach said that Romo was a solution and not a problem--that defense is most to blame for the team’s shortcomings in 2011.

"We have enough talent we can get it turned around," Staubach said, per ESPN Dallas. "We have a quarterback that can do it. I think our defense kind of let us down in the secondary, especially at times during the year when we were coming back. That should get improved next year."
