Profar Making AFL Debut Thursday

Jurickson Profar is without a doubt the most forgotten top super prospect in recent Rangers history, but he's about to creep back into Rangers fans' minds as he's set to make his debut in the Arizona Fall League on Thursday after missing the past two seasons with injuries.

Profar, who was the top prospect in baseball circa 2011 and 2012, came up as a utility player in 2013 and failed to really catch on before hurting his shoulder and using a whole year to rehab it before eventually settling on surgery, keeping him out for 2015.

Now, Rougned Odor has basically made everyone forget about Profar and all the talent and promise he was said to have.

But now Profar begins his road back to relevance, and he's almost certain to need another 500 at-bats or so in the minor leagues in 2016 with no real expectations of playing for the big club unless injuries force the issue.

For his career in the bigs of 94 games, Profar has a batting average of .231 with a .301 on-base percentage, seven homers and 28 RBIs. He has a long way to go to get back to the hype he had surrounding him, but he is still just 22 years old so it'd be stupid to write him off now.
