Blanks is one of the game's true mashers. When he's healthy, which hasn't been often lately, as evidenced by his 26 games in 2014, he can hit the ball a very long way. Blanks would be a cheap option as a free agent after the A's non-tendered him on Tuesday to come in and serve as a corner outfielder in a platoon situation, while he could also serve as a DH from time to time and even play some first base if needed.

Blanks is definitely not on the same plane as the more expensive targets this winter, but if the Justin Uptons and Matt Kemps can't be had via trade, he'd be a cheap option to bring in with hopes he could a) stay healthy and b) provide a punch to a lineup that lacked it in 2014.
