If Martin Perez can duplicate on Wednesday what Matt Harrison did on Tuesday night, he's in for a pretty special performance.
Perez takes the hill for the Rangers in the rubber game of a three-game series in Colorado on Wednesday afternoon in what will be his second start of the season after returning from a 14-month layoff following Tommy John surgery over the weekend in Houston.
In that game, Perez tossed 86 pitches and made it through five innings, while allowing three runs — enough to keep his team in the game despite the fact the Rangers eventually lost 3-2 to Houston. Perez struck out two and walked two while allowing nine hits.

Matt Harrison was awful — much worse than Perez in his return — in his unlikely return from an equal 14-month layoff but then bounced back Tuesday night to put up six scoreless innings. If Perez can follow suit and improve by the same margin, we could be looking at a pretty special outing for the 24-year-old lefty.
