Perez Hoping to Continue Run of Success

Give Martin Perez a lot of credit.

The 25-year-old lefty didn't get off to a great start this season, even though the numbers said otherwise. His high walk rate and low strikeout rate was masked by his insane double-play rate, and there was talk that he could've been the odd man out when Yu Darvish returned from Tommy John surgery.

Of course, A.J. Griffin's injury made that a moot point, and Perez also contributed to that.

Perez has been very solid in his recent outings, and in his last four starts he's walked no more than two batters. In his last two, he's walked one in each game. He's put up three straight quality starts.

He's now 4-4 with a 3.24 ERA and will look to close out a series win over Houston by taking three of four games on Thursday afternoon, and if he pitches the way he has been lately, the chances of that are pretty strong.
