Now that’s the kind of hit from Rougned Odor we should all celebrate.

Punching an opposing player might be seen as “macho” and all, but give me production from the scrappy second baseman’s bat over his fists. Fresh off a seven-game suspension for punching Jose Bautista Monday, Odor slapped an opposite-field walk-off hit that actually helped his team in the standings instead of just some fake reputation battle.

Tied 5-5 in the 9th inning, Odor sent an outside pitch off the left-field wall to score Adrian Beltre as the Rangers widened their lead in the AL West and continued their dominance of the rival Astros. Texas is now 7-0 against Houston and has won 11 consecutive in the series in Arlington.

After the hit, teammates mobbed Odor, who stretched out his arms and accepted the obligatory Gatorade bath.

“I was just trying to put the ball in play drive in the run,” Odor said on Fox Sports Southwest. “It feels good to get a hit in that situation.”

Odor played a huge role. He led off the 3rd innning with a homer and tied the game in the 7th with a sacrifice fly.

You can have Odor, the tough guy. I’ll take Odor, the talented guy.
