Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin said this week that he’s somewhat surprised that the Dallas Cowboys haven’t agreed to a long-term deal with Dez Bryant by now, but remains confident that owner Jerry Jones will do everything in his power to keep the Pro Bowler in blue and silver.
“Listen, there is no doubt in my mind, Jerry didn’t fight this hard, stay this long, deal with all he had to deal with, set by the side of Dez Bryant like that to let him walk away,” Irvin said, per the Dallas Morning News. “There is no question in my mind about that.”
Bryant, who stated publicly prior to the season that he’d shelf contract talks once the season started, wants a deal comparable to that of Calvin “Megatron” Johnson, pretty much unanimously thought of as the best receiver in the game.
Of course, the Cowboys could franchise Bryant, but the 26-year-old said recently that he’d be “highly disappointed” if they did.
