Harris Hopes to Establish Himself as a Receiver in New York

In four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Dwayne Harris shined on special teams.

Three times over 2012 and 2013, he was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, as he served as the team’s return specialist and a gunner on coverage teams. He had two punt returns for touchdowns and averaged 11.1 yards per punt while averaging 26.5 yards per kick return.

But having left Dallas for the New York Giants in free agency this offseason, Harris wants to establish himself more as a receiver.

"That's exactly why I chose to come here," Harris said, per Dan Graziano of ESPN.com. "They do look at me as a receiver and the things I can do on the offensive end. The things I did in Dallas limited me, because it was a lot of special teams work and a lot of blocking for DeMarco Murray. Being able to come here and show people I can play receiver and show what I can do when I have the ball in my hands is going to be fun for me."

Harris had three touchdown catches in his time with Dallas, but left with just 33 career receptions total.
