Hardy Exactly What Cowboys Need

The headline of this story alone will likely draw some folks offsides.

As we all know, and as people are pointing out very publicly, Greg Hardy has a ton of baggage hanging around his neck coming to Dallas via free agency.

There's likely a suspension coming for his domestic abuse case, which was dismissed when his ex-girlfriend couldn't be located to testify against him.

But putting all that aside, we also all know how much the Cowboys need a pass rusher, and boy, did they get one.

Hardy has Charles Haley-esque talent as a pass-rushing defensive end, and we all remember what Haley did when he was acquired back in the early 1990s, right? Well, this guy has the opportunity to do the same to the 2015 Cowboys, who were better defensively last year but still struggled at getting to the quarterback.

Hardy had 26 sacks in 2012 and 2013 combined, including 15 in 2013. The last time a Cowboys pass-rusher had numbers like that was the prime of DeMarcus Ware's career, and Ware wasn't the run defender Hardy has a chance to be when he's playing well.

From a football standpoint, and nothing more, this is exactly what the Cowboys need.
