Garrett: Romo Ready for Regular Season Grind

Tony Romo is coming off surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back

After being limited throughout training camp and the preseason, Tony Romo is ready to assume a normal, regular season workload, according to head coach Jason Garrett.

“The thing I kept reminding Tony about as we went through this process starting all the way back in the spring is, the goal is to be ready for the 49ers--September 7 at our stadium against the 49ers,” Garrett told the team’s official website.

Granted, that doesn’t mean Romo’s day-to-day routine this season will resemble that of last season or the season before that. After all, there’s no point in pretending Romo isn’t 34, or that he isn’t coming off December back surgery.

“I think the whole thing is semantics. We’re going to get him into a routine and get himself ready to play. If the standard is based on what he did six years ago, I don’t know if that should be the standard,” Garrett said. “We’re going to get him ready to play. At different times last year, he was able to do more things than at other times. But that’s really every guy on our team.”
