Garrett: Danny Coale “In The Mix” At Receiver

Coale was taken in the fifth round of last weekend's NFL Draft

When assembling his post-draft list of rookies that will have the most impact on the field in 2012--the list names one drafted rookie for each team--ESPN’s Todd McShay didn’t name first rounder Morris Claiborne as the Cowboys representative, but Danny Coale.

If you haven’t heard of Coale, a receiver out of Virginia Tech, it’s probably because he was taken in the fifth round of last weekend’s draft, long after most casual fans have stopped watching. That said, it seems that Coale will have a shot to make an impact in his rookie season.

Head coach Jason Garrett said recently that Coale will have a very real chance at one of the team’s two open receiver positions, along with Kevin Ogletree, Raymond Radway, Dwayne Harris and Andre Holmes.

"He’s in the mix," Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas. "He’s a guy that we like physically; we like him intangibly; he’s got some position versatility and flexibility and we feel like he can be a special teams contributor. One of the really good things that we see when we pick these seven players is it creates a tremendous amount of competition on our football team."
