Gallo Continues Hot Start for Round Rock

Joey Gallo knows all about stellar big-league debuts, and he might quietly tell you Nomar Mazara is nothing new for the Rangers.

It was Gallo who got three hits in his MLB debut last year, including a monstrous homer and a double off the top of the wall that barely missed a second long ball. He drove in four runs that day. Shortly after, things went downhill in a hurry for the slugging prospect with a long, violent swing full of holes.

He got sent back down and continued his struggles in Triple-A, where he had never played after jumping straight from Double-A to the Rangers.

This year, Gallo is off to an encouraging start for Triple-A Round Rock and it continued on Wednesday night when he crushed two more homers and had three RBIs. So far, he's cut way down on his strikeouts from last year, even at Round Rock, and just seems like a more refined hitter.

Is he as big-league ready of a hitter as Mazara? Probably not, but he's at least improving.
