New San Diego Chargers’ defensive coordinator Greg Manusky wants to win a Super Bowl.
This was the reason he gave for choosing the Chargers in his introductory press conference with San Diego on Monday, succinctly implying that the team in Southern California gave him a better shot at achieving this goal than did Dallas or Arizona, the two other teams with which he interviewed for the same role.
“I want to go to the Super Bowl,” Manusky said, per the Dallas Morning News. “I just ain't shuffling my feet. I've been doing that in San Francisco for four years. I'm sick of that. I want to take to the track and start running. I want to do something good.”
Ouch for San Francisco. But we can’t help but feel a little insulted ourselves.
“So we can’t win a Super Bowl? Is that what you’re saying, Manusky? You think you’re too good for us, do you?”
Okay, so Dallas finished 6-10 last season, and though we’d rather not admit it, we really don’t know what we have in head coach Jason Garrett. But we do know that, unless we’ve been pranked what good, he is not Norv Turner. And this makes us feel better, at least a little, about our Super Bowl chances.
