On Wednesday night, with his former team in town, Prince Fielder decided to make his return to Globe Life Park to visit his Texas Rangers teammates for the first time since undergoing cervical fusion surgery on his neck on May 27.

He hopes to begin rehab soon in DFW to get fully healthy for the start of next season, although there has even been some discussion he could be back to take some at-bats in September.

Fielder was in the clubhouse prior to Wednesday's loss — the Rangers' seventh straight — cutting up with his teammates.

“We want to see him at the ballpark,” Washington told reporters of Fielder. “It was real good to see him. He came in talked for a while, smiling and happy, then went to messing with [Adrian] Beltre. We know when the Prince is in town then we hear Beltre yelling.”

Fielder, who was baseball's iron man prior to the injury, has played in just 42 games this year. He hit .247 with just three homers and 16 RBIs after being brought to Texas via trade in November as the Rangers shipped longtime second baseman Ian Kinsler to Detroit for the slugging first baseman.
