Familiar Faces, Different Vibe During Cowboys' Preseason

DeMarcus Ware will play in AT&T Stadium this season after all. And for the first time since 2008 the Cowboys will not have a game on national television.

Those are just a couple of the interesting tidbits that arose from Wednesdayโ€™s announcement of the NFL preseason schedule.

The Cowboys will commence training camp in Oxnard in about 16 weeks. And before they open the regular season theyโ€™ll have exhibitions against the Chargers, Broncos, Ravens and Dolphins.

Ware, the Ring of Honor-destined former Cowboy, will play in Arlington as a visitor with Denver on Aug. 28, though it will be the preseason finale with starters playing minimal, if any, snaps.

The Cowboys wonโ€™t play an NFC team in the preseason and none of their four games will be televised nationally.

Another sign that this season โ€” even this preseason โ€” will be more about substance than style.

A native Texan who was born in Duncanville and graduated from UT-Arlington, Richie Whitt has been a mainstay in the Metroplex media since 1986. Heโ€™s held prominent roles on all media platforms including newspaper (Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Observer), radio (105.3 The Fan) and TV (co-host on TXA 21 and numerous guest appearances, including NBC 5). He currently lives in McKinney with his wife, Sybil, and two very spoiled dogs.
