ESPN's McShay Thinks Todd Gurley Could Be a Fit in Dallas

Gurley was on his way to being a Top 10 pick before he suffered a torn ACL

The Dallas Cowboys are set to pick 27th in the 2015 NFL Draft, which kicks off on April 30. Due in large part to a torn ACL, suffered last November, there’s a chance that Georgia running back Todd Gurley will still be on the board.

If the Cowboys bid adieu to DeMarco Murray in free agency, ESPN draft guru Todd McShay believes Gurley could be a nice fit in Dallas.

He’s just an absolute freight train as a runner,” McShay said of Gurley this week, via the Dallas Morning News. “He’s one cut and go. He lowers his shoulder. He’s like Marshawn Lynch. He just breaks through so many one on one tackles. What separates him from a lot of other big backs is, one: his top-end speed. It’s an elite combination of size and speed. The second part is his pass-catching ability, which nobody seems to talk about.

“I was blown away by how comfortable and natural he is at catching the football, adjusting to the ball, transitioning from catching the ball and getting up the field quickly. And then, if you give him some daylight, it’s over. It’s lights out. Once his momentum gets going he’s got rare top-end speed for that size.”
