Dwayne Harris Tweets Encouragement to Lucky Whitehead

Whitehead is hoping to replace Harris on the Cowboys' roster

On Thursday night, as Lucky Whitehead got to work trying to prove to the Dallas Cowboys that he has what it takes to replace Dwayne Harris, he got a word of encouragement from a fairly unlikely source--Harris himself.

The undrafted receiver/return specialist out of Florida Atlantic fumbled a punt return in the second quarter, a devastating mistake for a rookie looking for a job like Whitehead is. Harris, whose new team, the New York Giants, don’t play until Friday night, was apparently watching at home and tweeted to Whitehead to β€œshake it off” and β€œkeep going,” because there was β€œa lot of game left.”

Indeed there was and Whitehead took his next return chance, a kick return, back 38 yards to get the Cowboys to the 41. It was the only kick he returned on the night, but a nice showing after the miscue.

β€œIt was definitely fun,” Whitehead said of his first taste of NFL game action, per the Dallas Morning News. β€œI was a little nervous. I’m going to watch film and get better, and I just can’t make the same mistakes. I think I’ll be fine.”
