Smartly choosing not to risk his future reward, Cowboys’ receiver Dez Bryant will skip the upcoming Pro Bowl with what he says is a lingering groin injury.
We all know the injury isn’t serious. And we know that if the Cowboys had a game today Bryant would play and run and jump and do anything within his physical capabilities to help them win. But now, on the verge of free agency, there’s no reason to do anything stupid.

Bryant, who will be replaced by the Packers’ Randall Cobb, caught 88 passes for 1,320 yards and a franchise-record 16 touchdowns. He will be a free agent on March 10, although owner Jerry Jones has stated that if a long-term agreement can’t be reached before then the team will use its franchise tag on the receiver to ensure he remains a Cowboy next season.
Even without Bryant, the Cowboys will have seven players in the Pro Bowl.
