Daniels Addresses Wash Rumors

Rumors began surfacing over the weekend that a "team source" leaked information about an apparent dust-up between Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels and former manager Ron Washington that was started over the fact Yu Darvish was shut down for the season. Of course, Washington turned in his unexpected, sudden resignation on Friday afternoon.

It's just a rumor — one of many we'll hear about the reason Washington decided to step down — and it might be true, but Daniels shot down the theory on Monday afternoon on 103.3 FM in an interview with Tim Cowlishaw and Matt Mosley.

Daniels said it was "ludicrous" and "far-fetched" to think Washington, who has no apparent ounce of "quit" in him would've just quit on his team with less than 30 games to play in what has been an awful year. He then went on to discuss the serious nature of the reasoning for Washington's resignation and said it was insensitive for anyone to throw out the idea that Washington would quit over a player being shut down.

It's interesting to hear that, for sure. And with Washington's reputation around here, you really don't want to believe he would quit like that. But the only person who can tell us what happened is Washington, since Daniels has already made it perfectly clear he's not going into anymore details. Hopefully Washington will decide to tell what happened sooner rather than later so we can end all the speculation.
