Cowboys to Practice with Raiders August 12-13

The joint workouts will take place during the last week of Cowboys training camp

The Dallas Cowboys have confirmed that they’ll host the Oakland Raiders for two days of joint practices on August 12 and 13, during the final week of training camp, in Oxnard, CA.

The practice on the 12th will begin at 4 PM local time, with a morning practice to follow the next day, the exact time of which is yet to be determined.

The Cowboys have held joint practices with the Raiders in the past and, in 2012, they had a few joint practices with the San Diego Chargers. Head coach Jason Garrett sees a good deal of benefit in practicing against another team.

“Once you get your instillation in and then you’re done with that, I think the opportunity to work against another team can really help you,” Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas. “It can help you evaluate your players, evaluate your team. It’s nice to see how your players respond to different schemes, going against different guys. And also just the level of practice; the intensity increases. It’s a fine line. You don’t want to increase too much where you get yourself in a bad position in terms of injuries, but typically the intensity is heightened in a real positive way.”
