The shake-up of the Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line depth that began on Monday with the waiving of tackle Jordan Mills carried into Tuesday, with the waiving of Darrion Weems and the signing of Charles Brown.
Brown was a second round pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2010, after a decorated career at USC, where he played with--and at one point, started over--Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith. Now Brown will serve as Smith’s backup--and Doug Free’s, as Brown is currently the only reserve tackle on the active roster.
Brown spent four seasons with the Saints before moving onto the Giants in free agency before last season. He was in camp with the Jets this summer, but was let go before the season.
The Cowboys also released safety Tim Cook from the practice squad on Tuesday, leaving them with an open spot for the time being.
