CB Battle Ruled A Draw

The most intriguing position battle of camp is over, and we didn't even get a clear winner.

CBS 11's Steve Dennis reported this morning that the two cornerbacks gunning to start opposite Terence Newman, Orlando Scandrick and Mike Jenkins, will split time and alternate starts, ostensibly, until a clear winner can be decided.

Jenkins, a product of the University of South Florida, will get the start in game one against the Buccaneers in Tampa, and Scandrick will open things up in the home opener on September 20 against the Giants.

The edge coming into camp was thought to belong to Jenkins, so much so, in fact, that Jenkins called himself the starter on his blog before camp opened; and to his credit, he had a camp befitting a starting NFL corner. Only problem is, so did Orlando Scandrick.

Like any good American sports fan, I don't like draws, or ties, or no contests, or pretty much anything that means there wasn't a winner and a loser. But this is a good problem to have, particularly considering the very real possibillity of Terence Newman missing time with injury, something he's done each of the past two seasons.
