Matt Bush just won't stop impressing the Rangers.
The former No. 1 draft pick back in 2004 infamously spent more than three years in prison for a DWI hit and run accident that nearly killed a motorcyclist and now he's trying to get back into baseball with the Rangers.
While he still has a long way to go, he pitched in his second "A game" of the spring on Sunday and his stuff is showing it will play against anyone.
He hit 100 mph on the stadium radar and hit 98 mph numerous times while registering another scoreless inning — his third straight in as many "A game" innings.
"When you see an arm like that, with the velocity and at the knees, and a breaking ball, it's fun to watch," manager Jeff Banister told reporters. "He's pretty impressive. What he's capable of doing with the fastball and the breaking ball, he's going to be a tough customer."
With the Rangers bullpen locked and loaded, it's unclear when and if Bush will be an option for the bigs this year, but that velocity and that breaking ball are going to make his future very interesting if he can keep his nose out of trouble.
