Barry Church Says Romo's “Picking Us Apart” in Practice

Tony Romo has been impressing a lot of folks in Oxnard this year

Last week, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones declared that he was seeing Tony Romo at his very best in Oxnard this year. Veteran safety Barry Church made clear recently that the men who are charged with facing the Romo-led offense each day in practice apparently don’t disagree with that assessment.

Romo is playing at the top of his game right now,” Church said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “He’s picking us apart and we just have to figure out a way to control him. As of right now, he’s playing at the top of his game.”

Romo is coming off his first full, healthy offseason since 2012, and a 2014 season that started with questions about the veteran’s back, and ended with an NFC East Championship, a playoff win and a close loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round.

From a statistical standpoint, too, 2014 may have been Romo’s best season. He threw 34 touchdowns to just 9 interceptions while completing an eyelash under 70 percent of his passes. His 113.2 passer rating was the highest in the NFL last season, and the sixth best single-season rating for a quarterback ever.
