Astros Owner Puts Decision On Nolan

We've been waiting for the moment to come for months now, and it still isn't here.

But Nolan Ryan joining the Houston Astros' front office in some capacity could happen any day now, according to Astros owner Jim Crane, who was outbid by a Ryan-led group that bought the Rangers out of bankruptcy just a few years ago.

Obviously, a lot has changed in that handful of years as Ryan stepped away from his decreased role as Rangers CEO in October and immediately was rumored to be interested in the Astros, another one of his former clubs who his son, Reid, just happens to run on the business end.

Crane told that he expects a decision from Ryan "any day now" and the "ball is in his court," so basically the job is offered, the Astros are just waiting on Ryan to decide if he wants to get back into baseball.

"It would be exciting to work with [Reid] in the Astros organization," Ryan told the Houston Chronicle last month. "The Astros have always had a special place in our hearts. Reid grew up around the Astros organization."

It's seemed to be a formality for months now, and we should know soon if it's actually going to happen or not.
