Texas Olympian Katie Uhlaender reacted on Tuesday to news that the International Olympic Committee has banned Russia from the upcoming PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Uhlaender finished fourth in skeleton at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. The Russian athlete who finished ahead of her was recently banned for doping, so Uhlaender is now expected to receive the bronze medal.

    Uhlaender released the following statement:

"I feel that there is a huge culture change that needs to happen. The only way to ensure that, is to hold a strong line. Russia will deny to the end 'it wasn't me', and if a line was not drawn, behind closed doors they would have made a mockery of the Olympic movement. I commend the IOC, WADA, and all that took part in standing up for clean sport. It has lifted a big weight off many athletes knowing our next Olympics will be fair and clean."Katie Uhlaender

Uhlaender is a favorite to make Team USA for PyeongChang. If she succeeds, it would be her fourth Olympics.
