Stars Sign D Jordie Benn to One-Year Contract

Benn to join brother on ice

The Dallas Stars have signed Jordie Benn to a one-year contract.

The team announced the signing in a Wednesday statement. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

The 24-year-old Victoria, British Columbia native signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent last summer. He spent most of last season playing for the Texas Stars, the Dallas development affiliate. He led team defensemen in goals (9), power play goals (5) and overall points (32), and tied for assists (23).

Benn made his NHL debut in January against Detroit. The 6-foot-1, 200 pound defenseman played in two other Stars games, garnering two assists for the season.

Benn will his join his younger brother, Stars forward Jamie Benn, on the ice next season. Jamie Benn was among Dallas' top scorers last season.
