Ribeiro, Turco Lead Stars Past Kings in Shootout

Mike Ribeiro scored the lone goal in the shootout, Marty Turco stopped all three shots he saw in the tiebreaker and the Dallas Stars beat Los Angeles 3-2 Saturday to extend the Kings' skid to four.

Ribeiro, Dallas' first skater in the shootout, beat Erik Ersberg to put the Stars ahead.

Turco stopped Alexander Frolov, made a glove save on Dustin Brown and then turned away Jack Johnson's attempt.

Jere Lehtinen had a goal and an assist for the Stars, who played their fourth straight overtime game and ninth in 14 overall. Ribeiro had Dallas' other goal.

Dustin Brown had a goal and an assist for Los Angeles. Frolov had the other goal for the Kings, who have been outscored 15-4 in their losing streak.

Turco made 20 saves, and Ersberg stopped 32 shots.

The Stars looked as if they won the game in regulation on Ribeiro's goal with 1:12 left. Darryl Sydor threw the puck toward the net, and Ribeiro tipped it in to give the Stars a 2-1 lead.

Immediately after the score, Dallas' Steve Ott and Johnson were called for roughing penalties. Ersberg left the ice, giving the Kings a 4-on-3 advantage for the final minute. Frolov scored with 16.9 seconds left to force overtime.

The Kings entered 29th in the league in goals. Their scoring slump continued as they only had 22 shots on goal in a game that was scoreless after two periods.

Kyle Calder made a cross-ice pass to Brown, who beat Turco from the right circle to give the Kings the lead at 6:45 of the third.

Jere Lehtinen weaved between two defenders and beat Ersberg from the bottom of the right circle to tie it with 8:31 left.

That set up the frantic final seconds of regulation.

Dallas bounced back after a blowing a three-goal lead in a shootout loss to Buffalo on Thursday night.

The Stars have played 14 overtime games, equaling the total they played last season. They are 7-7 in those games.
