Rangers Get Reliever From Red Sox, Sign 2 Pitchers

The Texas Rangers acquired right-handed reliever Beau Vaughan from Boston to complete a previous trade and signed pitchers Brian Gordon and Joe Torres to minor league contracts.

The Rangers traded reliever righty reliever Wes Littleton to the Red Sox last month. The 27-year-old Vaughan spent most of last season at Double-A Portland, where he was 2-1 with 16 saves and a 2.12 ERA. He was a third-round pick by the Red Sox in 2003.

The 30-year-old Gordon made his major league debut Sept. 17 and had three relief appearances. The righty was 6-5 with a 3.51 ERA in 34 games split between Triple-A Oklahoma and Double-A Frisco.

Torres, a 26-year-old lefty, was with the Chicago White Sox organization the past two seasons. He went 3-1 with a 2.68 ERA in 59 appearances with Double-A Birmingham this year.
