North Texas Students OK Fee to Fund Stadium

University of North Texas students will help fund a new football stadium through the school's first dedicated athletic fee.

Student government leaders announced Saturday that a referendum to add a $10 per-semester hour charge passed with 58 percent of the vote.

The funds will help pay for a proposed $60 million stadium that isn't expected to be completed until after 2011, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

North Texas regents and the Texas Legislature must still approve the fee. Both are expected to do so.
