National Signing Day 2011: UNT

North Texas head football coach Dan McCarney has announced that 22 players have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Mean Green beginning in 2011.

McCarney's first class is comprised of 19 high school players and three transfers.

"This is a tremendous day for the North Texas football program," McCarney said. "This class is the foundation of a new era of success that will help bring this proud program back to prominence. We recruited great football players, but more than that they are young men with tremendous character. We expect everyone in this group will enjoy enormous success both on the field and in the classroom and will be outstanding ambassadors for the University of North Texas for years to come."

Of the 19 high school signees 17 are from the state of Texas, including 10 from the North Texas region.

McCarney and his staff recruited 12 defensive players that will help fill the void of five starters that were lost to graduation on that side of the ball. McCarney is in his first year with the Mean Green.
