Pearson Prepares for Payback From Eagles During NFL Draft

Dallas Cowboys legend Drew Pearson fired up Eagles fans with his smack talk before he announced Dallas' second-round pick at last year's draft in Philadelphia.

Pearson opened his turn at the podium with "How 'bout them Cowboys," and reminded Eagles fans that the Cowboys are five-time Super Bowl champions, before he announced the team's selection of cornerback Chidobe Awuzie out of the University of Colorado.

For the 2018 NFL Draft in Arlington, Hall of Fame defensive tackle Bob Lilly and four-time Pro Bowl center Travis Frederick will announce the team's second and third-round selections, but it will be hard to top Pearson's monologue in front of the hostile Philadelphia crowd.

The Cowboys made Lilly the first draft pick in the history of the franchise when general manager Tex Schramm picked him 14th overall in 1961. Lilly played 14 NFL seasons, all in Dallas, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980.

Just five years into his pro career, Frederick could be on a similar path.

Drafted out of the University of Wisconsin in 2013, the center has not missed a start in his five NFL seasons and was named First-Team All-Pro in 2016.

Several players with Texas connections will announce draft picks for their former teams. Chris Canty, who played the first four seasons of his career with Dallas, will make the Giants' third-round pick, while former University of Texas standouts Vince Young (Titans) and Priest Holmes (Chiefs) will make second-round selections, as will TCU's LaDainian Tomlinson (Chargers).

Other former NFL stars to make picks include Michael Vick, selecting for the Falcons, and Hall of Famers Jim Brown, Andre Reed and Mike Singletary, for the Browns, Bills and Bears. Meanwhile, a parrot named Zsa Zsa will announce the Buccaneers' fourth-round pick.

The 2018 NFL Draft will take place at Arlington's AT&T Stadium beginning with the first round Thursday night. The second and third rounds will be held Friday, with rounds four through seven to follow on Saturday.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will announce all of the picks in the first round, before the players get a chance to make selections Friday and Saturday. The Cowboys hold the 19th overall pick in the first round.
