JJT's 10 Thoughts on the Cowboys' Loss to the Seahawks

The Cowboys dropped to 1-2 for the first time since 2010

The Cowboys dropped to 1-2 for the first time since 2010, a season that began with Wade Phillips as the head coach and ended with Jason Garrett as the head coach. Dallas turned in another inept offensive performance and never really challenged Seattle.

Here are NBC 5 Cowboys Insider Jean-Jacques Taylor's 10 thoughts on the Cowboys' 24-13 loss.

1. Ezekiel Elliott finally had a breakout game with 127 yards on 16 carries and runs of 19, 21, 26 and 19 yards. But he also had a key fumble, had an apparent touchdown negated because he stepped out of bounds before he caught the pass and dropped a third-down pass.

2. Dak Prescott completed 19 passes, but his longest completions -- 20 yards -- came late in the fourth quarter. He averaged 4.9 yards per attempt.

Following Seattle's 24-13 win over the Cowboys, Seahawks safety Earl Thomas told reporters that Dallas coaches came up to him before the game to ask if he was ready for a trade.

3. The Cowboys spent the entire offseason trying to take care of linebacker Sean Lee's body. They didn't allow him to practice much in training camp and he played sparingly in the preseason -- and it still didn't help. Lee strained his hamstring against the Giants in Week 2 and missed 27 plays. He aggravated the hamstring during the second quarter and missed most of the second half, but still finished with 11 tackles and half a sack.

4. The Cowboys held Seattle to 294 yards and 79 of those came on two completions. Two of Seattle's three touchdowns appeared to come on poor plays by the safeties -- Kavon Frazier took a poor angle on the first one and Xavier Woods was late covering the receiver on the second.

NBC 5's Pat Doney shares five things you need to know following the Cowboys' loss to the Seattle Seahawks, including that Ezekiel Elliott's shouldering the blame.

5. Seattle had allowed six sacks in each of the first two games, but they used a quick passing game and 32 runs by Chris Carson for 102 yards to slow down the Cowboys' pass rush. Dallas had just two sacks.

6. The Cowboys' receivers combined to catch 11 passes for 120 yards and no touchdowns with a long of 20. They have combined for two receptions of 20 yards or more this season. Prescott has completed 54 passes this season.

The Cowboys lost their second game of the season to the Seattle Seahawks, 24-13. NBC 5 Sports Director Newy Scruggs and former Cowboys defensive back Dennis Thurman break down the loss.

7. Leighton Vander Esch tied for the team lead with 11 tackles, including one for loss. He's playing better and getting more comfortable, and with Lee's hamstring issue he's only going to get more playing time.

8. Kicker Brett Maher made each of his two field goal attempts from 50 and 35 yards, respectively. That's four in a row after missing his first kick with the Cowboys.

Cowboys defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford was flagged for roughing on Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson. The call was controversial and Crawford said he felts like he did nothing wrong.

9. The defense, as well as it has played, remains plagued by it's inability to generate turnovers. We're three games into the season and Dallas has forced only two turnovers and has yet to intercept a pass.

10. Prescott ran five times for 19 yards, the read option was not a big part of the offense this week against Seattle. One of the problems with the Cowboys' offense is that it has no identity right now. Prescott's running was supposed to be an integral part of the offense, but we didn't see it against Seattle.
