Carrollton's Iwuji Inspires While Living Dream Racing Professionally

NASCAR truck series driver Jesse Iwuji has big dreams for his professional racing career.

"I'm trying to represent for the military," said Iwuji. "I want to show them that no matter what, you can get where you want to go to in life. You just have to stay focused and never ever give up."

Iwuji attended Hebron High School in Carrollton and never gave up on his dream of becoming a race car driver after his active duty service in the military.

"I was sitting in my room and wrote on my whiteboard that I want to become a race car driver," said Iwuji. "I had gone to different open track days and I thought 'why don't I try to take this to the next level and try to go pro with it?'"

On Friday, Iwuji balances life as a professional driver and an officer in the Navy reserve. And Friday night, he'll race in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway with his family watching him in-person for the first time.

"They've gotten to watch on television, but they've never come to a race," said Iwuji. "My biggest thing is keeping that truck clean. I just want to finish the race and give them a good show."

Trying to put on a show, and inspiring others while living out his dream racing on his home track.
