Astrodome Renovation Proposals Due Monday

The deadline has arrived for private firms to turn in their proposals to save the historic Astrodome.

The Houston Chronicle reports the deadline is Monday for such proposals to be submitted to the Harris County Sports & Convention Corp.

The executive director of that group, Willie Loston, said they are also coming up with their own plan, which will be revealed June 19.

Loston offered no details of the public plan or say whether it is different from a proposal they recommended last summer to Harris County Commissioners Court, which would have renovated the Astrodome.

The plan the agency comes up with and the private proposals will go to county commissioners June 25.

The stadium has been vacant since 2009, when it was deemed unfit for occupancy.
