Serial Killer Linked to Alaska Barista's Murder Killed 10 Others: FBI

A man who was an admitted serial killer and later committed suicide while awaiting trial for the murder of an Anchorage barista is believed to have killed at least 11 people across the country, law enforcement officials said Monday. Investigators believe Israel Keyes' murder spree began in 2001 and culminated with the murder and kidnapping of 18-year-old Samantha Koenig of Anchorage. The FBI released a detailed list of Keyes' admitted crimes , which also included robbery, arson and rape. The 34-year-old carpenter and Army veteran was arrested in March 2012 in Texas in connection with Koenig's murder. He later killed himself in his Anchorage jail cell in December 2012. Investigators believe Keyes' list of victims totals 11 based on interviews in which he confessed to several murders that amounted to "less than dozen." However, his only known victims are Koenig and a Vermont couple he confessed to killing in 2011.
