A young mother and child were killed in a mobile home fire near Texas 51 in Parker County Monday morning.
Investigators said they found a woman in her mid-20s and her 3-year-old son dead in the bedroom where they think the fire started. Officials have not yet released the names of the victims.
“There’s nothing glaring that it was not some sort of accidental fire, but we cannot make a definite determination until that autopsy is complete,” said George Teague, the interim fire marshal for Parker County.
Investigators said there could be several different possibilities why the fire started, including a space heater or bad electrical wiring. Teague said smoke could be seen from 12 miles away.
Investigators said another family member also died in a fire in August only 50 yards away from Monday’s deadly fire.
